Paralegal – Employment Law

A corporate and professional organisation in the Jewellery Quarter are of Birmingham are actively seeking a paralegal to work in our employment law department. You will ideally have successfully completed both the Legal Practice Course and the Employment Law elective, with relevant experience or alternatively you must be a career paralegal who has experience working in the area of employment law.

Your role will be to advise clients regarding employment law matters working as part of a team. Typical queries will involve advice regarding contracts of employment, annual leave, rest break entitlements, raising grievances and the disciplinary process. There will be a mix of non-contentious and contentious work with exposure to Employment Tribunal claims. You will also advise on regulatory matters and the successful candidate(s) will also support one of the solicitors specialising in this area and previous regulatory experience would be an advantage, although training will be provided.

Excellent communication and the ability to cope under pressure are essential skills for this role. You will be required to manage your own caseload ensuring that members receive accurate advice in a timely manner. You will be supervised by solicitors in the team and you will be expected to cover for colleagues during their absence.
