Market Leader in the maintenance, service, repair and build of Rail Freight Wagons

Position Summary:

We are looking for a Mechanical Fitter/Operator to further enhance our existing mechanical team based out of our Out Station Depot at Whitemoor near March, Cambridgeshire.

The role, once competencies achieved, will be responsible for the ongoing maintenance and repair of fleets of Rail Freight Wagons both at the depot and out within the Network. As such a current PTS would be a distinct advantage. The role will also include training to ultimately operat a ballast machine as part of the role will be to work on the network dropping ballast as part of the track maintenance and repair process

As per the subject matter, a high degree of physical fitness is required as is a strong and competent degree of mechanical capability. This is a role that puts physical demands on the Fitter as a lot of the work is undertaken out doors in all elements

Person Profile/Experience:

Highly competent Mechanical Fitter from a background formed from working either in Rail, on HGV’s, Heavy Mobile Plant, Buses or Ex REME or a related Armed Forces Engineering Discipline

Physically fit with a good sense of humour

Flexible attitude to working conditions and travel in line with the role

This would also suit a competent mechanic looking to project their career in to the Rail Industry

Qualifications:

Apprenticeship or NVQ 2 or 3 or a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a related industry
