Electrical and Instrumentation Project Engineer

COMPANY OUTLINE

An opportunity has arisen to recruit an E&I (Electrical and Instrument) Project Engineer based at the Cramlington site, reporting into the Electrical & Instrument Plant Engineer. This role will be offered on a permanent full time basis working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

THE ROLE

The successful candidate will ideally be educated to degree or HND level or with equivalent experience. They will have sound knowledge of electrical and instrument engineering and an understanding of the implications of HSE legislation, CDM legislation and quality regulatory requirements. They should be experienced in equipment specification, procurement, cost-estimation, plant installation and testing and in project handover documentation.

An ability to create achievable project plans and coordinate engineering projects to plan from conception to installation, commissioning and project closeout is essential. The candidate should also be able to demonstrate their ability to lead project teams and contract resource to ensure that site projects are correctly resourced to achieve the project objectives. Excellent communication skills and building strong relationships are key to this role.

Some key responsibilities include:

Review project installations to ensure that they are in compliance with safety, health and environmental legislation
Verify that installations comply with statutory requirements
Participate in safety and environmental reviews, hazard studies and COSHH assessments
Ensure that all project work is carried out in accordance with the requirements of the CDM regulations
Apply site standards to project engineering activities
Ensure installations designed to allow compliance with cGMP requirements.
In conjunction with process engineers, project engineers and suppliers, develop process datasheets into full E&I specifications against which suppliers can tender.
Optimise project costs by comparing tenders against price, delivery, quality and functionality.
Manage the contract resources effectively in support of projects and maintenance plans.
Contribute realistic timescales and work components to project plans.
Work as part of engineering project teams providing advice and feedback on progress
Promote effective communication and good working practices between contractors and process, project and plant engineers to ensure that project goals are met.

THE ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Educated to degree or HND level or with equivalent experience
We are searching for a candidate who can work on their own initiative
Knowledge of electrical and instrument engineering
An ability to create achievable project plans and coordinate engineering projects to plan from conception to installation, commissioning and project closeout is essential
An understanding of the implications of HSE legislation, CDM legislation and quality regulatory requirements
Plan and prioritise their work and think creatively in order to provide the best solutions.
You must be able to work with key stakeholders both internally and externally at varying levels so good communication skills are essential.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

£43,200 per annum
