Production Team Leader; Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire; up to £28K

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for leading and motivating a small team to effectively deliver and achieve the overall business targets and customer requirements. Duties will include:
* Contributing to the load and capacity planning process and balance resources and coordinate teams’ activities to meet targets.
* Escalate to the Operations Manager any problems that may affect achievement of KPI’s (e.g., delivery, cost, productivity, quality) and implement corrective actions.
* Ensure compliance with Standard Operating Processes and the Quality Management System by coaching and reinforcement of the importance of always delivering a quality product.
* Ensure health and safety of operatives is always maintained
* Support performance management at individual and team level, conducting performance appraisals (MRIB’s) and 1.2.1’s for team members.
* Approving and managing direct reports annual leave entitlements, to meet with employee, customer and business needs.
* Pro-actively manage attendance issues within the department, conducting return to work discussions.
* Support with recruitment process and conducting regular probationary period reviews at appropriate intervals.
* Actively lead and encourage the team to use improvement tools and techniques and develop a culture of continuous improvement to effectively deliver improvements to increase productivity, reduce costs and eliminate waste.
* Support the Production Engineering team on introduction of new processes and equipment as required.
Applicants to this role should have
* Previous leadership experience of managing a small team of skilled /semi-skilled / machining operatives.
* Previous experience working in the engineering sector within a Manufacturing/Production environment.
* Familiarity with MRP system and production planning processes.
* Sound knowledge and practical application of Health and Safety legislation and policies / procedures.
* A HNC level or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Electrical or Electronic engineering would be desirable.
* Good IT skills.
