Engineering Geologist / Contract Manager
Personal Description
An individual with one to two years’ experience working in the UK as a site investigation contractor. The individual should be well organised, quality orientated and self motivating.
Job Description
A mixed role involving both fieldwork and office based duties (roughly 70:30 split to begin with), reporting to the Senior Engineers and the Engineering Manager. The individual must be able to work well on an individual basis taking responsibility for their own projects, work well in a team, be self motivating and be able to balance their various project commitments to achieve the best outcomes for the company.
Primary job roles will include:
 Organising and managing engineering contracts from tender award to completion.
 Completion of pre-site health and safety documentation.
 Liaison with clients and site occupiers to organise fieldwork.
 Supervision of trial pitting, cable percussion drilling, rotary drilling, window sampling, inspection pits, dynamic probing and dynamic cone penetrometer testing.
 Processing of field information and lab schedules.
 Factual reporting.
 Commercial control of investigation projects and completion of valuations.
Skills Required
 Excellent communication and organisational skills to liaise with clients, suppliers and other team members.
 Relevant UK based experience of setting up and managing investigation contracts in accordance with current best working practice and standards.
 Awareness and understanding of site H&S requirements.
 Conducting site inductions/briefings
 Ability to accurately log soil and rock in accordance with BS5930 2015 and EC7
 Carrying out site sampling and in situ testing in accordance with best practice and current standards.
 Liaise with the testing lab and client to organise lab testing.
 Ability to write factual reports.
 Full and clean UK driving license
 CAT scanning (training can be given)
 Use of gINT (training can be given)
 PTS qualified (training can be given).
