Salary: £38,400 per year

An experienced Product Engineering Manager/ Lead is urgently required to lead, manage and run the product engineering team, to ensure project target are met with agreed timeframes. As product manager you will take the lead in securing the future business with the introduction of new products into the portfolio. There will be a hands on element to the role run trials, assess results and feedback to the customer directly.
Key Responsibilities
• To manage the day to day activities of UK Product Engineers when issues or roadblocks arise.
• To be an expert in the manufacturing of ceramics.
• To be an expert in Data Analysis (for example yield reports, CMM data etc) and use this expertise to design experiments and trials with the goal of meeting agreed standards for products (for example Gross Margin %)
• To provide Leadership in the smooth execution of key projects on site, using, but not exclusively, the following:
• Use of the NPI project Management system
• Understanding of Engineering drawings (physical and electronic, e.g. CAD)
• Gauge R&R
• Project planning
• FAIr process
• Analysis of CMM and other processing data
• Follow the trial and change management procedures employed.
• To be competent using the Company’s ERP systems (e.g. IFS / CRM) including, but not exclusively, the following PFMEA / FMEA
• 5Y
• 8D
• Ishikawa Diagrams
• PIR / CAR reports
• Basic Six Sigma terminology.
• To be expert in communication / coordination with production to ensure the team’s trials are completed to plan, to allow timely completion of projects.
• To be a hands on engineer who, when required, is capable of running trials unaided.

Qualifications / Experience
• Degree in a relevant Engineering Discipline
• Lead Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent
• Experience in an Engineering function, preferably in a leadership position
• PC literate (with expertise in MS Word, Excel and Minitab)
• Knowledge/understanding of Ceramic Core Product and Manufacturing Process
• Knowledge/understanding of Export controls and restrictions
• A sound understanding of the IFS system is desired.
