The Sanctuary / Target Hardening Domestic Violence and Abuse Worker role is a 15 month temporary contract and areas covered are Hampshire West and North.
YOU is a registered charity that provides care, support and advice to vulnerable people across Hampshire and Dorset, giving them the tools and resources they need to live independent, secure and valued lives.
The overall purpose of this role is to co-ordinate the provision of enhanced security (Sanctuary) at the home of individuals who have experienced domestic abuse. Working within the Integrated Domestic Abuse Team, the post holder will be responsible for the surveying of the property, engaging external contractors to complete identified works and ensuring the completed works meet the agreed specifications. The skilled and experienced post holder will work across the area linking with DVA workers to carry out safety planning and complete risk assessments, offering tailored support, assistance and advice.
This is an exciting and innovative post which could be ideal for an individual with experience regarding home security and a commitment to keeping people safe from harm within their own homes and communities. This would also be an ideal role for those with some knowledge regarding domestic violence and abuse and are keen to develop that area of skills / knowledge and experience. We have initial funding for this post for fifteen months full time or two years part time if this project is successful it may lead to a permanent service.
We are looking for a skilled and reflective practitioner who has skills / knowledge / experience to meet the specifications below (follow instructions for full post requirements, skills, knowledge and experience):
• Ability to work with colleagues, clients and other professionals to identify those who would benefit from Sanctuary
• Ability to carry out a full assessment and survey of the identified property with the client and ensure their needs and circumstances are reflected within any agreed property enhancements
• Ability to work with others to carry out risk assessments and co-produce individual safety plans ensuring that issues external to the property are included within the full Sanctuary provision
• Ability to work closely with others to develop a tailored package of Sanctuary which is informed by a full risk assessment
• Ability to complete DASH RIC and refer to MARAC through the SPOC team
• Ability to work closely with local housing teams to ensure communications are clear and clients are identified at the earliest opportunity
• Ability to work closely with external Sanctuary providers and monitor their work to ensure they deliver the required standard of target hardening

Sanctuary / Target Hardening DVA Worker – Additionally you will have:
• Experience supporting women, men and children who have been subject to domestic violence and abuse on 1:1 or group work basis
• Experience of Sanctuary Schemes or Target Hardening
• Experience and knowledge of safeguarding adults and children
• Experience of supporting, reviewing and enabling positive client outcomes
• Experience of completing risk assessments
• Experience of responding calmly and effectively to people in crisis or emergency
• Experience of safety planning
• Knowledge of Honour Based Violence, Forced Marriage and Female Genital Mutilation
• Knowledge of criminal and civil proceedings relating to Domestic Abuse
• Knowledge of Homelessness legislation and prevention and Housing Law
If you are interested in the role please note that you will need to be available for flexible hours, including evenings and weekends and you may form part of an on call rota.
Additionally you will be required to be a car driver with willingness to work across the county and to travel beyond occasionally for meetings and training.
Assessment centre will be on the 7th August with successful applicants being invited back for interview on the 12th and 13th August.
Salary: £26,000per year
All group and individual assessments and interviews will take place at Admiral House in Fareham.
