The Role

Key Accountabilities
As a Youth Mentor you will:- -Manage a caseload of young people who are Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET) or At Risk of becoming NEET aged between 14-19 (up to 25 with a learning difficultly/disability). -Delivering a range of personal development, motivational and confidence building courses with embedded functional skills and employability training in community venues and Seetec centres. -Manage co-ordinate customers’ attendance on programme and deliver the target number of contractual outcomes per month. -Support on outreach and engagement activities within the local community to ensure sufficient recruitment of suitable and eligible clients to the programme to achieve contractual outcomes. -Use appropriate initial assessment and diagnostic tools to tailor an Individual Learning Plan to meet a Young Person’s desired objectives, experiences and capabilities. -Offer appropriate information advice & guidance and jobsearch support to young people ensuring they move into employment, education or training. -Co-ordinate attendance at internal/external training courses and regular attendance at 1:1 mentoring appointments. -Support the Business Development team as required brokering opportunities with employers, training providers and schools/colleges. -Ensure 100% compliance of contractual evidence requirements. -Work with multiple agencies to provide on-going holistic support. The team leader role requires all of the above and experience of managing a team. -A confident manner coupled with excellent communication skills and the ability to create a rapport with young people, staff, partners and employers at all levels..
Skills and Experience
-Minimum 12 months experience of delivering information advice and guidance and supporting NEET/Risk of NEET young people aged between 14-25 into work/voluntary work, apprenticeships or further education/training -Minimum IAG Level 3 qualification or equivalent -PTTLS or equivalent teaching qualification -Minimum of 4 GCSE’s or equivalent including English and Mathematics -Experience of working in welfare to work / government training environment -Demonstrable experience of working to and exceeding key performance indicators -Good knowledge of local labour market, government funding and training programmes available to young people -Competent IT user – Office applications and databases -Full driving licence with access to own car with business insurance -You will be required to work flexibly as traveling around the community and working evening and weekends will be essential
