WORKSHOP OPERATIVE / LABOURER

THE ROLE

Working in a busy metal processing environment, you will carry out a variety of tasks including:

• Loading furnaces
• Labouring / cleaning around the workshop
• Operating metal extrusion press machines
• Working with hot metals
• Use of hand tools – grinders, handpress
• Visual inspection for quality
• Operating overhead crane to move metal bars (training given)
• Bandsaw operation
• Finishing – grinding, deburring
• Operating bar bump straightening machines
• Working from written & oral instructions
• Completing necessary paperwork
• Logging information onto computerised database

EXPERIENCE

• Worked in a metal processing environment (steelworks, forge, foundry)
• Experience in a hot metal environment is an advantage
• Knowledge of manual handling of metal components
• Experience of using hand tools, finishing machinery
• Overhead crane experience preferred
• Attention to detail
• Able to follow instructions
• Understand traceability of parts
• Able to meet production targets

Working 37 hours per week Monday to Thursday, 6am-3.15pm, then 1.45pm-11pm, rotating.

Candidates must be flexible to work overtime if required, to meet the needs of the business.
