Looking for a rewarding role in a brilliant school that could positively impact on a child’s life? We have 10 Teaching Assistant vacancies starting in September for a local Welsh-medium school in Cardiff, for pupils between 11 and 19 years old.

This 12 month assignment is perfect for those looking to progress their career, wanting to gain valuable and specialist experience after Graduation or even during a gap year!

As a Teaching Assistant you will support pupils with learning and behavioural difficulties in both group and 1:1 settings. You will support and nurture pupils to engage in learning activities within the mainstream classroom, and outside of the classroom such as special resource bases, where needed.

You will need to build an extremely strong rapport with different pupils, capturing their interest in forming a bond with you, based on trust and mutual respect. You will represent yourself as a positive role model for them, supporting them to appropriately manage their behaviour and emotions, by helping and guiding them to channel these in a healthy and calm manner.

Those in need of 1:1 support may require assistance in developing their self-confidence, and social interaction skills. You will encourage them to take pride in their achievements, be confident in group participation, and in sharing ideas, as well as respecting those of others.

You will work with them to help them understand their frustrations, and how to work through/resolve them for a positive outcome, ensuring that they feel cared for and listened to. You will set boundaries and routine, and support the pupil to respect and engage in these, as an effective behaviour management technique.

Successful candidates will be provided with compulsory THRIVE and TEAM TEACH training over the summer holidays usually worth over £1500, free of charge.

As we are a teaching agency, run by teachers and behavioural specialists, we will ensure you have access to further training and ongoing support such as CPD and mentoring that ensures your success and growth as a teaching assistant. We offer our staff additional and unrivalled FREE training from accredited courses such as Autism Awareness, ADHD awareness and positive Behavioural Management.

In order to apply for this role, you must have

* Fluency in Welsh language
