TimePlan are working with an Outstanding Secondary School in Harrow who are looking to secure a School Welfare Assistant to start ASAP on an ongoing long term Assignment.
Welfare Assistant
The main purpose of the role is to be the principle First Aider based in the Student Services Unit, supporting students with first aid and making welfare calls home.
Duties will include:
- Being the school’s principle First Aider
- Supporting students with welfare calls, incidents and medication
- Keep up to date confidential medical student information and student medication
- Ensure the school’s First Aid Boxes are regularly checked and filled in line with H&S guidance
- Ensure the school’s defibrillators are checks regularly in accordance with H&S guidance
- Provide emotional and practical support to students, assisting them in managing personal challenges and social issues.
- Update staff with any communication from parents regarding their child Provide information and support to any parents or carers that contact student services about their child
- To undertake the necessary training to gain and maintain the relevant First Aid and safeguarding qualifications and undertake other additional training as and when required in order to be a point of contact to assess and provide first aid to students; carrying out an initial evaluation as to whether further medical attention is required and take appropriate action.
- To assist with the completion and help maintain the appropriate medical/accident records using EVOLVE and to produce reports when requested
- Triage confidential issues linked to home/students/teachers.
- Fire Marshall duties in the case of fire and/or emergency evacuation where applicable
- To support with the administration of counselling appointments as required.
