Security Team Leader
- Location: Wednesbury (WS10)
- Salary: £24,169 Per Annum
- Shift Pattern: Sunday 12:00 – 20:00 & Monday – Thursday 10:00 – 18:00
- Contract: Permanent
The Security Department are responsible for ensuring and maintaining the security of Yodel’s sites, assets, people and processes across the Yodel estate nationally.
The security team based at the Wednesbury Sortation manage and carry out the day to day security functions detailed below under the management of the Security Manager. The Team Leaders work to ensure that the day to day running of the team is being carried out correctly. They report directly to the Security Manager and maintain oversight of the team during the shift. They are given responsibilities to assist with certain elements of team management.
What you’ll be doing
* Act as a lead for the team making local decisions when necessary.
* Escalating situations which cannot be resolved to Security Manager.
* Being aware of correct Policies and Procedures and ensuring Security Team are following these.
* Ensuring daily and weekly tasks are being carried out and completed to high standard by the team.
* Ensuring site is kept secure and security systems are in working order (including CCTV, Keycard System, Turnstiles, Radios and Fire Alarm Panel), and escalating any issues to Security Manager.
* Managing handover to next shift including passing on details of any ongoing incidents or incidents of note.
* Ensuring search records and daily logs are completed and kept up to date.
* Establishing good working relationships between Security Team and other departments on site (i.e. Sort and Transport).
* Leading on investigation work and assigning tasks to team members as required in order that these are completed.
* Assisting with shift planning/resourcing/Agency requests/leave requests and payroll returns as required by Security Manager.
* Leadership of the Security team and participation in general duties as follows:
o Guarding of the perimeter and site assets through physical patrols and CCTV monitoring.
o Guarding of the site pedestrian entrance through physical patrols and use of the intercom system.
o Operating the warehouse sterile entrance area where staff are monitored through use of stationary scanners, wand scanners, physical searches and bag searches.
o Responding to live incidents and contacting relevant authorities including emergency services where required.
o Reporting of security incidents through use of the internal electronic reporting system.
o Completing incident report logs and witness statements where required.
o Incident investigation including through use of CCTV systems and communication with frontline staff as well as the warehouse management team.
o Communicating and ensuring staff members are aware of correct security procedures around the site, and reporting where breaches are identified.
What you need to show us
* The ideal candidate will have experience working in the security industry in a leadership role previously.
* Able to demonstrate strengths in verbal and written communication.
* Able to demonstrate leadership and teamwork skills.
Essential experience:
* Eligible to apply for SIA license. Currently held license is not mandatory however is desirable. License renewal costs will be covered as long as the applicant remains employed by Yodel.
* Competent in use of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
Desirable experience:
* Experience of working as part of a Security Team.
* Experience in leadership role.
* Prior experience in use of CCTV systems and other security systems.
