Warehouse Operative – Huntingdon – £16-£22k

Do you have Loading & Yard Shunter experience and are looking for a new challenge? This could be an ideal opportunity for you to join the team at an exciting time with the development of an external warehouse facility near Huntingdon. We are recruiting Warehouse Operatives who will be responsible for loading and unloading trailers, securing loads & shunting trailers between the loading bay and trailer park. The role demands high levels of compliance with all operating procedures and safe systems of work.

What the role will involve…

Warehouse Operatives are responsible for the competent handling of all pallets produced by the manufacturing site. This includes both unloading inbound product into store and also the subsequent re-loading of product for onward delivery onto the customer.

With this in mind the successful candidate will be required to:

• Work safely at all times in accordance with company policy on Health and Safety
• Ensure all tasks are completed in a safe manner with regard to themselves and all other personnel
• Comply with DS Smith quality standards, processes and procedures
• Prepare trailers prior to loading, including completion of quality & compliance checks while ensuring all restraint systems are fit for purpose, are correctly positioned & secured
• Correctly load and unload product, safely put away and scanned to the correct zones
• Look for improvement opportunities for self, process and equipment

Our Warehouse Operatives are required to:

• A strong work ethos with a ‘can-do’ approach.
• The ability to forge strong relationships within a team environment
• Work well under pressure and with the ability to prioritise tasks.
• Have a flexible approach to working hours and with reliable time-keeping.
• Possess a valid counter-balance forklift truck licence.
• Previous experience in yard-shunting operations within a distribution environment would be an advantage although full training will be given

Location: Huntingdon

Salary: £26,000 – £26,400per year
