Windracers design, manufacture and operate uncrewed autonomous drones that provide an essential logistics platform and solution within the mail and parcel, humanitarian assistance, defence, and environmental sectors. Sitting within our Training Standards operations work stream, this role is responsible for the instruction of both ground and airborne flight. With a focus on UAV piloting, training, compliance, and continuous improvement the role will work to create written materials such as manuals and enhance education and compliance surrounding safety and operating standards with an adherence to operational and company procedures.

This role would suit someone with crewed aviation or pilot training experience from a military , airforce, piloting or comparable background. You must have a passion for learning and a desire to impart your knowledge onto others. We are looking for someone who is approachable, friendly and keen to share their knowledge and experience.

This role requires a flexible approach to travel (home and abroad), work location, periods away from home, working hours and weekend working due to its operational fly requirements. Typically, 60% plus of this role will be out in the field. You will also have to satisfy relevant security and aviation vetting as required.

Skills/Knowledge

  • 3+ years’ experience in professional flying operations environment.
  • Confident in risks assessment and safety management, and the ability to apply them to drone operations.
  • Familiarity with drone technology, operations, and the current regulatory landscape.
  • Ability to form effective working relationships quickly with key stakeholders (internal and external).
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to be patient with others, able to build rapport, summarises key facts, and relay information in a timely and affective manner.
  • Excellent organisational skills and knows what is required to ensure great outcomes.
  • Attention to detail, quick and accurate, notices when information doesn’t look right and corrects errors or escalates as appropriate ensuring commitment to high standards.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks at once without becoming overwhelmed.
  • Ability to work to and meet deadlines and problem solve with conflicting priorities.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (focus on excel).

Qualification Requirements

  • ATPL, military wing within crewed aviation (or equivalent).
  • Clean Driving Licence.
  • Right to work within the UK.
  • Ability to travel abroad EU and non-EU territories.
  • Vetting and security clearance (as required by role, location or client).
