Trant Engineering are currently seeking to recruit a Senior CAD Technician / CAD Draftsperson with a background in either Electrical/ Mechanical or Civil Engineering projects, to join our design studio at our Head Office in Southampton.

Our in-house multi-disciplinary services include civil, process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control and automation, supplemented by the design and manufacture of Control Panels, MCC’s, PLC’s, SCADA and automation systems. We also provide a range of bespoke modular and containerised water & wastewater treatment and fuel conditioning systems.

We are currently seeking to recruit a Senior CAD/Draftsperson with a background in either Electrical/ Mechanical or Civil Engineering projects, to join our design studio at our Head Office in Southampton.

Duties of the Senior CAD Technician

Reporting to the CAD Team Leader

Responsible for the creation of Computer Aided Design models and drawings in accordance with TEL and/or clients drawing manuals

Maintains drawing file system, issuing of drawings and undertaking of archiving of drawings

Assist with site dimensional surveys for pre and post construction drawings

Assists Design Engineers in the liaison with the Client, suppliers and external sub-contractors to ensure design is completed in accordance with the specification

Part of a multi-disciplined team responsible for the design of water, wastewater and biosolids treatment plants

For M&E applicants we would expect:

Responsible for preparing detailed Mechanical pipework and equipment layouts, including fabrication details when required.

A strong working knowledge of piping principles, materials and fittings used in Water and Energy projects would be desirable.

Responsible for preparing piping and instrumentation drawings (P&IDs)

Be able to follow a P&ID and be able to create pipework / equipment layouts from them (with guidance from our design team).

For Civil applicants we would expect:

Responsible for preparing detailed Civil and Structural layouts, including groundworks, buried pipelines (typically pumped mains and drainage systems), concrete and re-bar detailing, structural steelwork.

An basic working knowledge of piping principles, materials and fittings used in Water and Energy projects would be desirable.

The implementation of the company management systems for health, safety, the environment and quality in conjunction with the TeL Systems Department

That all work is completed to the Client’s satisfaction, within budget

Establishing and maintaining working relationships and effective communication with clients

KEY SKILLS/BACKGROUND

Competent user of 2D & 3D AutoCAD
Experience in any of the following software packages: Revit, AutoCAD Plant 3D, AutoCAD P&ID, AutoCAD Electrical, AutoCAD Civil 3D, , advantageous but not essential
Competent user of Microsoft Office Packages
A background in Mechanical, Electrical or Civil Engineering CAD Design
Having knowledge of working with the water or waste water sector would be a strong advantage but not essential
