Transport Manager

Large manufactuer in the South Leeds area are seeking a Transport Manager to join there growing operation.

This role would suit either an experienced Transport planner or a Transport Manager who is looking for their next step.

Your duties will include:-

To effectively manage the Distribution function, Traffic Clerk and supervision of drivers whilst securing that the department achieves the highest level of operational efficiency as required by the Company and agreed with the Logistics Manager

To maintain all necessary costing records and systems to enable accurate analysis of the company’s delivery overheads and performance, including driver overtime and expense payments

To monitor the staffing requirements of the Distribution function in keeping with sales orders activity levels both at present and in line with future projections.

To ensure manning levels of fully trained drivers are accurate and implemented, including the recruitment of additional or replacement employees as required and as authorised by the Logistics Manager.

To ensure that the undertakings of the Company O Licence are understood and adhered to at all times; maintaining all transport regulations as applicable to Company drivers, including all agency/temporary workers.

To monitor and maintain attendance and disciplines throughout the Distribution Team, including the assessment and initiation of employee training requirements with positive motivation of the team

Carry out random checks of delivery vehicles leaving the warehouse and of goods being returned from customers.
