Our client, based in Overseal, are international leaders in plant extraction and the development of natural ingredients for the food, health, and beauty sectors. Operating over 16 production locations across the world, and with their recent integration with their parent company, our client is growing fast and looking to expand their team.
About The Role
As Trade Affairs (TA) specialist you will be responsible for managing all customs related activities across the Overseal and Higham Ferrers sites, for the Taste & Well-being department. Your primary role will be to improve daily customs clearance procedures, and ensure compliance with trade regulations, whilst optimising payment of customs duties. Your role is to coordinate both site activities related to customs and represent the Trade Affairs Operations UK Team Lead.
Specific Responsibilities
- Management and documentation of daily local customs’ activities
- Official contact for local customs authorities – for daily operations
- Administration and maintenance of import & export records
- Ensure compliance with international trade regulations & local customs accreditation
- Ensure continuity including local backup solution
- Coordinate import & export declarations with customs agents and forwarders
- Control of import and export documents and tasks
- Management of duties refund, duty drawbacks
- Ensure compliance of inbound and outbound duty processes
- Licence management
- Ensure the correct duty is applied through checking the GovUK websites
- Monitor service level agreements & keep them updated with the customs broker/forwarders
About You
- Commercial education
- 2+ year’s experience in the import/export area
- Knowledge of SAP
- Customs clearance processes (import, export, transit…)
- Customs legislation & regulation and valuation & declaration
- Customs related IT systems
- Customs entry & MSS data checking
- Incoterm knowledge
- Origin recognition

Role will be based primarily at the Overseal site, with travel to Higham Ferrers once a month/as needed.
