We currently have vacancies for a 2 REGISTERED THEATRE PRACTITIONES to join an experienced team of Anaesthetic staff at a prestigious Hospital in Aberdeen.
These posts are for 37.5 hours and 31.5 hours per week per week working either 10 or 12 hour shifts on a rota basis. The department is open from 7am until 8pm, Monday to Saturday with the additional provision of an on please apply Sunday.
It is essential that applicants are fully qualified practitioners who meet the following criteria:
Current NMC or HPC Registration
Certified completion of an approved anaesthetic course
Excellent communication skills, both verbal & written
The ability to work as part of a multi-disciplined team
Applicants should also be competent in all Anaesthetic procedures undertaken within a busy acute care operating department.
Duties of this role include:
Assembling, checking and preparing the appropriate anaesthetic equipment, drugs and consumables for a wide range of operative procedures incorporating various types of anaesthesia.
Coordinating the use of the supplies and equipment during an operating list, ensuring the equipment is used in an appropriate and safe manner.
Conducting mandatory patient checks including informed consent, patients’ identity and operative site against the supporting documentation, prior to the start of the anaesthetic.
Assisting the Anaesthetist throughout the perioperative phase of care.
Assisting the anaesthetist in monitoring the patient’s condition throughout the procedure, taking appropriate action to manage any arising complications through contingency planning.
Completing all written documentation in a timely manner and to an acceptable level.
Being aware of and complying with all infection prevention and control policies, ensuring best practice is used to ensure low infection rates.
