What you need to know about the role
As a Technologist in Technical Services, you will be responsible for metallurgical assessment of many of our products including but not restricted to Rods, Rail and Sections.
Your role will include the metallurgical release testing and support of products from the associated mills. Adhering to agreed customer turnaround times and preventing bottlenecks in testing and product release. You will also use your metallurgical knowledge investigate issues in our products and processes.
The diverse product portfolio and demanding markets require an individual who can function in a fast-paced environment where priorities can quickly change.
What we need to know about you
You need to be qualified within a Metallurgy or Materials Science based subject. A track record in a metallurgical environment and good knowledge of metallurgical testing methods and standards is desirable.
The ability to analyse and present data to inform decision making is key to this role therefore a sound working knowledge of Microsoft office software is required.
Other desirable experience includes:
- The ability to fit in and work closely with a small team.
- Experience of working safely with chemicals in a laboratory environment
- Knowledge of continuous improvement techniques
- Awareness of, ISO 9001, ISO IEC 17025, IATF 16949.
- Sound knowledge of laboratory procedures and equipment
- Experience of working with enhanced metallurgical analysis techniques such as SEM and LIBS
