Salary: £50,400 – £54,000 per year

We are actively working with a specialist Electrical Vehicle developer who have adapted a range of utility vehicles to 100% battery power The vehicles are distributed and sold globally, predominately to Industrial, Environmental Engineering, Exploration & Research and Geological Surveying sectors.

Using advanced and evolving technology the company are investing heavily in innovation and development to meet the increasing demands for quality and robust electric utility vehicles.

As part of their expansion the company are looking to recruit a technical writer to report to the Head of Engineering and working closely with the Head of Quality and the Head of Safety,

The Technical Writer will be responsible for the creation of product related technical documentation for electric vehicle conversion kits, and separately the installation of accessories, charging equipment, and enterprise software solutions into vehicles.

You will create content based on the actual product technical detail and the required vehicle user, assembly partner process, packing technical process requirements, maintenance personnel needs, and safety risk assessment expectations.

These product documents will be used by your peers, packaging and conversion partners plus customer and end user personnel.

Technical subject matter expertise will be provided where necessary, but the successful candidate will also be expected to work with available resources and with high levels of initiative to achieve necessary documentation standards.

The role is predominately home-based, but there will also be European travel to partner sites and the Netherlands HQ as required..

Duties and Responsibilities:

Work with cross functional product development teams to develop documentation detailed technical manuals and guidelines, including schedules that will allow Tembo to meet product launch deadlines.

Ensure that documentation is complete and accurate by researching features, interviewing subject matter experts, performing, or coordinating content validation checks, and participating in peer reviews.

Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of manuals, instructions, drawings, standards, guidelines, templates, and document control processes.

Create and follow guidelines governing style, localization, and content control and issue.

Develop proficiency with the Authoring and Management System

Continually update vehicle documentation as required to document features delivered through remote software updates.

An interesting role the successful candidate must have/be all of the following:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Technical Writer or related role
  • Experience as a technical writer, writing user-focused documentation, providing the correct level of technical specification, user instructions and manuals plus safety awareness document content.
  • An ability to work hands-on and communicate with all levels of the organisation.
  • Experience performing specialized publishing tasks such template creation, development and use of content change control and translation management in a technical product and an engineering related sector.
  • Proven experience in using collaboration software, Microsoft 360, confluence and appropriate engineering technical writing tools.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and challenging work environment with multiple tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of an authoring tools and system would be preferable.

The successful candidate will be rewarded with a basic salary of between £50,400 – £54,000plus a pension, medical, 25DH and ongoing training and development.
