The Client & Role | Who Are They?

The recruiting business design and manufacture a range of tools and machines with applications in industrial markets. They are a medium volume manufacturer of products that help to significantly reduce lead times in the manufacturing and construction industry. The products are highly functional, however, at present not the most technically advanced, this is more due to the requirements of the markets they serve rather than a lack of desire, but there is scope for the future.

They have a range of legacy products that are still in use today and are held in high regard by the experts that use them. There is space for lots of innovation, both in enhancement of current products but in completely new product design and application.

The role on offer will be responsible for leading a team of engineers (mechanical and electrical) to drive the new product development cycle. Ideally you will have developed your career working in product design but the overriding requirement here is the ability to manage the whole process, using applicable tools (stage-gate) and managing both internal and external resources. You will be the leader in identifying new technologies that can be adopted and adapted and identifying IP opportunities. You’ll likely liaise with a range of customers, academia and partners to project manage the whole product lifecycle.

The Candidate | What Are We Looking For?

You will act as a senior leader and make up an impressive leadership team that genuinely puts people first and continually invests in people development and training. We are looking for individuals that have the following experience:

– Bringing new products to market successfully (2 per year).
– Management of resources and budgets.
– Project management and stage-gate experience.
– Technical background in mechanical or electrical engineering.
– Some experience of 3d cad systems, ideally as a proficient user but if not at least an ability to understand and manipulate technical drawings.

Like many, this business has had a tough year, but as an SME with a supportive parent they are investing now to capitalise on the future growth just around the corner.
