Genomics England partners with the NHS to provide whole genome sequencing diagnostics. We also equip researchers to find the causes of disease and develop new treatments – with patients and participants at the heart of it all.

Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a Technical Delivery Manager to join us here at Genomics England!

In this role, you will support the delivery of key projects across our research service. This may include supporting data migrations, application development, and the deployment of new services to the cloud (AWS).

Ideally, you will possess a strong delivery background that will enable you to advise and shape outcomes whilst remaining hands on. You will also possess an understanding of data management, migrations, and engineering as well as an appreciation for cloud & software development.

Responsibilities:

  • Taking accountability for end-to-end completion of key projects across the Research Environment; ensuring smooth delivery and business outcomes
  • Working closely with data specialists to provide delivery support across data migrations and pipeline projects
  • Ensuring projects and deliverables are held to date and to scope, and executing consistently to quality
  • Defining business cases, project scopes, and deliverables in collaboration with all stakeholders
  • Ensuring adherence to pre-determined process and procedures required for compliance, and tracking actions from audit requirement to completion
  • Working cross functionally with key stakeholders from Engineering, Architecture, Data, and Bioinformatics to achieve transformational change

Skills and Experience: 

  • Experience of managing data projects including migrations and pipelining
  • Knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and cloud infrastructure
  • Strong relationship building skills in bringing diverse teams together and managing challenging and interlinked stakeholders
  • Ideally, a working knowledge of the following technologies: Cloud infrastructure (AWS), Serverless, ECS/ EC2, databases, application and monitoring services (DataDog), data management tools (Semarchy), Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), APIs.

Genomics England operates a blended working model as we know our people appreciate the flexibility. We expect most people to come into the office 2 times each month as a minimum. However, this will vary according to role and will be agreed with your team leader. For some people this is 1 day a quarter, for others it is several days a week. There is no expectation that staff will return to the office full time unless they want to. The exception would be some of our roles that would require you to be on site full time e.g., lab teams, reception team.

Our teams and squads have, and will continue to, reflect on what works best for them to work together successfully and have the freedom to design working patterns to suit, beyond the minimum. Our office locations are Canary Wharf, Cambridge and Leeds.
