We are currently looking for a Transport Coordinator (Readymix) to join our friendly team based at Tarmac Cairneyhill Quarry and Asphalt Plant, Caldercruix, Airdrie (near Glasgow). As well as Glasgow this site is accessible from Falkirk, Grangemouth, Broxburn, Carluke, Bellshill, Hamilton, Kirkintilloch, Rutherglen, Bishopbriggs and the surrounding areas.

Main Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Readymix Supervisor the role of Transport Coordinator (Readymix) will work alongside the distribution team and the wider area transport team to provide a cost effective, sustainable, safe & customer focused transport operation for key stakeholders in the business.
The role of Transport Coordinator (Readymix) will also be responsible for:
Day-to-day supervision of Readymix vehicles owned and operated by Tarmacs third party haulage base
Management of compliance and legal requirements both from a statutory, industry and Tarmac perspective by ensuring that all contract and/or third-party hauliers are operating to Tarmac standards, practices, and procedures
Planning and building relationships with Third Party haulage suppliers through contract negotiation, and with the support of the Logistics and Distribution Manager be able to provide a medium to long term plan to meet demands
The role is a Monday – Friday role, with additionally working 1 in 5 Saturday AM’s (Saturday is worked from home)
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for the role of Transport Coordinator (Readymix) will have experience within a similar role or perhaps working as a Sales Coordinator or Sales Administrator providing support to key stakeholders.
The role of Transport Coordinator (Readymix) is a varied, complex and rewarding position. Whilst industry experience would be desirable, it is not essential so we would be pleased to hear from you if you can demonstrate your ability to positively contribute to a team, take pride in your work and showcase your determination to succeed. Suitable candidates will have:
Good communication skills – both oral and written
Ability to build rapport and positive relationships with a range of both internal and external stakeholders
Ability to provide customers and internal colleagues with excellent service
Strong numeracy and analytical skills
Ability to problem-solve
Evidence of working collaboratively within a team ensuring all tasks are completed in a timely manner and to a high standard
A flexible and adaptable approach to work
Experience of MS packages (SAP and CRM systems advantageous)
Ambition to learn new skills and achieve your own personal goals, as well as business goal
