We are currently looking for an experienced Ship Manager – Technical Superintendent to join our Marine Management Team. The role is based from our Chichester offices but will be a mixture of site, remote and out of hours working, so whilst we are adaptable to location, we do require you to have the key aspects to fulfil this role.

Main Responsibilities
You as the Ship Manager – Technical Superintendent will be responsible for the preparation of repair and maintenance specifications, detailed planning to ensure that budgetary requirements are accurately forecast, monitored and maintained to minimise vessel downtime, whilst meeting the legislative requirements, flag state and classification rules. You will have management responsibilities of ship staff to ensure safety and performance standards are maintained to the highest level.

Your role will include (not exhaustive):

Ideally you will hold a STCW 95 III/2 Class 1 Certificate of Competency with supporting experience in a senior seagoing role
A proven history of managing complex drydocking and maintenance projects and working with electronic planned maintenance systems is a necessity, together with excellent management and IT skills
Previous experience with TSHD vessels in a similar role would be advantageous
You will need to be an effective people manager who is flexible and responsive to operational change
Capable of dealing with a variety of technical issues and of providing guidance and instruction to resolve them; excellent communication skills are essential
Due to the nature of the role, we will accept applications from non-marine engineers, but due to the level of responsibility we do require a strong engineering background

The Ideal Candidate
To succeed in the role of a Ship Manager – Technical Superintendent the following is what we are looking for in a future colleague:

Engineers Unlimited Certificate of Competency would prove highly desirable
Strong engineering background – we will consider engineers outside of the marine industry
Degree in an Engineering or role related discipline would prove highly beneficial but we also will accept Qualified by Experience applications
Experienced in a heavy engineering or adverse conditions environment
Manage the engagement of evaluating and managing vessel and system modifications
Ability to go on board of our ships, therefore you must be able to work on Seafaring vessels
Adaptability and diverse to spend periods away from home in support of our Marine / Maritime division
Strong IT and communication skills
Exceptional Project management and People skills
