Female Supported Living Worker – CQC Accommodation Based

Fawdon, Newcastle upon Tyne

Permanent full time 37.5hrs day shift on a rota basis and one waking night 37.5hrs position available.

Pay £10.90 per hour (£21,314 per annum) and great benefits including Health Cash Plan

As our Supported Living Worker, you’ll be at the heart of supporting our customers who have Learning Disabilities and physical health needs to develop their skills to live more independently in the community, in our rated good registered CQC service. Calling all night owls! Prefer staying awake and working through the night rather than snoozing away like the rest of us? We’re looking for a dedicated night worker who won’t fall asleep on the job. If you’re as energised as a new Duracell bunny with the alert skills of a meerkat, this is the job for you!

Typical day as our Supported Living Worker 

  • Assisting customers with practical, daily living tasks to develop their independence, helping them to achieve the goals, aspirations and outcomes documented in their support plans.
  • Helping customers with daily living activities such as making meals, shopping, budgeting, maintaining their tenancy and moving onto independent accommodation if they are able.
  • Support to attend appointments, take part in hobbies and interests or attend college or work
  • Supporting customers with their personal care and medication needs outlined in their support plan
  • Carrying out risk assessments, support planning, goal setting and regular reviews.
  • Cuppas, chats and catch ups. There’s no rushing from one customer to the next here! Plenty of time to work together with colleagues too.

You have

  • A Level 2 Health and Social Care Certificate or are prepared to work towards it!
  • Passion to support our customers to live their best life, working together with an eye for detail
  • Experience of caring for others, you may have worked in care before or have experience of caring for others such as family members or children
  • Experience of working on own initiative, remaining calm under pressure and having a resilient approach
  • A flexible, personal approach, listening to customers to understand their needs, recognising every customer is different

Our team 

You’ll join Andrina and our amazing Warrington team, we’re super passionate about what we do! We’re really proud of supporting our amazing customers through there changing needs and life events. We’re a supportive bunch and like to enjoy a cuppa and a joke.

In Fawdon our Two Fantastic customers are aged between 60 -70 and have learning and physical disabilities. They live in a lovely bungalow that has a fantastic garden, 3 fish tanks and Topsy and Penny the rabbits. Here we also help our customers with personal care and moving and handling, and yes we have a tracking hoist system. Even better news, our wet room has plenty of space to move around to make your life easier to support our customers! Every day is different supporting these customers

Our first customer is an amazing woman who lives with cerebral palsy and is wheelchair bound, she likes things to be done her way and why shouldn’t she ? She likes nothing more than a spending spree, shopping for clothes and DVD’s in Newcastle or a nice meal out. But also likes her alone time.

Our second customer has an amazing sense of humour and has a lot of jokes and limericks that will make you giggle. She loves animals, the Rabbit’s and the fish tanks are hers, she loves going to the pet store and asking for advice about caring for her pets as well as buying them treats. Knitting is her passion and she loves to teach staff how to do this, she is a great teacher, Andrina our manager recently completed a scarf with her support.

Job details

  • Where we’re flexible with you, we do need to meet the needs of our customers. That may mean adapting your start or finishing times on occasion.
  • We work on a rota basis- day shift full days and half days and sleep in’s. Our Waking night shifts are 21:00-08:00
  • If you are working days or nights we still all get together regularly for team meetings and training through the day.
  • We use technology to update support plans, complete online learning and to collaborate with colleagues.
  • You’ll need an Enhanced DBS check done and we pay for that.
