Temporary up to 18 months, Full Time (37.5 hpw), Monday-Friday 9-5pm

Pay £10.90 per hour (£21,314 per annum) (pro rata) and great benefits including Health Cash Plan

Typical day as our Support Worker 

  • Assisting customers with practical, daily living tasks to develop their independence, helping them to achieve the goals, aspirations and outcomes documented in their support plans.
  • Helping customers with daily living activities such as benefit applications, budgeting, social inclusion, maintaining their tenancy and or finding appropriate accommodation.
  • Carrying out risk assessments, support planning, goal setting and regular reviews.
  • Cuppas, chats and catch ups. There’s no rushing from one customer to the next here! Plenty of time to work together with colleagues too.

You bring

  • Passion to support our customers to live their best life, working together with an eye for detail.
  • Experience of caring for others, you may have worked in care before or have experience of caring for others such as family members or children.
  • The ability to work on your own initiative, remain calm under pressure and have a resilient approach.
  • Recognise every customer is different and you’re able to adopt a flexible, personal approach, listening to customers to understand their needs.
  • To get from A to B, you’ll need a vehicle insured for business purposes. The great news is that we’ll pay your mileage!

Our team

You’ll join Tracy and our Mental Health Hospital Discharge Team, we’re super passionate about what we do! We’re really proud of the work we do to aid timely discharge from mental health wards in Co Durham by helping customers find appropriate accommodation or be safely discharged home. We will  support customers following discharge to maintain accommodation in the community and remain well to reduce risk of readmission to hospital. We’re a supportive bunch and like to look after each other and work as a team.

Job details 

  • Where we’re flexible with you, we do need to meet the needs of our customers. That may mean adapting your start or finishing times on occasion.
  • You will work in the community managing your own diary or on mental health wards at our local hospitals. This will be Monday to Friday 9-5pm .
  • You will work alongside your team members as well as on your own. We do get together regularly for training and team meetings.
  • Able to use technology to update support plans, complete online learning and to collaborate with colleagues.
  • You’ll need an Enhanced DBS check done and we pay for that.
