This is great opportunity for a structural / civil engineer to join a fantastic organisation which offers excellent career progression. The company offer a one stop shop to commercial contractors and private developers. They were founded in the 1980s and have over 30 years experience of foundation industry experience.
They offer a wide range of services ranging from our patented engineered foundation systems and underpinning and also have their own in-house design team comprised of Structural and Geotechnical Engineers, providing underwritten design solutions across all their services.
JOB PURPOSE:
To provide technical assistance to the Preconstruction team with a particular focus on design, estimating and feasibility. The ideal candidate will have a number of years’ experience working as a Graduate Engineer and be looking to take the next step in their career as a Project Engineer equivalent in a contracting environment.
Key Accountabilites
• Taking responsibility for undertaking and completing specific technical tasks.
• Providing assistance to the design team with remedial designs and drawing alterations in order to maintain productivity on site.
• To learn and provide assistance with Finite Element Modelling (FEM) of foundation designs, including producing drawings using AutoCAD.
• Providing assistance to the estimating team by undertaking takeoffs and feasibility designs.
• Observing and learning from more experienced staff members.
Qualifications
• Postgraduate degree and graduate member of the IStructE and/or ICE and working towards Chartership.
Experience
• Experience in a design consultancy with reinforced concrete design and foundation design (Both Eurocode and British Standard experience is desirable). Experience with NHBC and Premier technical standards is preferable.
Knowledge
• Good technical knowledge of Codes of Practice
• Good knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant regulations, rules and quality standards Skills
• Excellent planning, organisational and management skills.
• Computer literate with current Microsoft Office packages desirable.
• Self-motivated, highly organised and be able to independently manage workload.
• Problem-solving skills required, including a strong ability to prioritize.
• Strong communication skills to be able to convey messages to clients and internally.
