We have recently opened a wonderful new 15 bed service in Chislehurst providing specialist residential rehabilitation for adults with an acquired brain injury or long-term neurological condition. We have an opportunity for a Speech and Language Therapist join our new service and be part of making Chislehurst the best place to work and provider of dedicated, supportive and fun care – join us and let’s make everyone’s day better!

What you’ll be working:

We can be flexible but you will work a total of 15 hours per week Monday to Friday, days and times can be agreed

Please note you are looking for more hours we have the option of providing further hours at our neighbouring neurological rehabilitation services

What you’ll be doing:

  • Provide assessment and management of communication and swallowing disorders
  • Devise evidence-led therapy programmes for patients at a specialist level, with an emphasis on multidisciplinary working to achieve the best outcomes for our patients
  • Maintain high standards of clinical care in line with national guidance for excellence
  • Named Therapist duties to ensure cohesive goal-setting and therapy and coordinating discharge
  • Develop your skills in clinical supervision and informal mentoring of Speech and Language Therapy assistants and students
  • Participate in internal training (induction, mandatory training, MDT in-service)
  • Ensure all relevant codes of practice and regulations are upheld
  • Participate in service delivery audit and quality improvement initiatives

What you’ll have:

  • Experience in working with aphasia, cognitive communication disorder, dysarthria, apraxia and dysphagia is necessary
  • An excellent interpersonal worker, maintaining consistent and effective workplace relationships
  • Experience in this specialist clinical area, including evidence of post-graduate training in working with people with acquired neurological impairments is desirable
  • Able to demonstrate initiative and creativity
  • Excellent organisation and communication skills
  • Hold a BSc or recognised Postgraduate Diploma in Speech and Language Therapy
  • Specialist level dysphagia competency on RCSLT framework
  • Hold current HCPC registration
  • Successful candidates will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS
