Salary: £26,000 per year

Special Needs Teaching Assistant required for Birmingham

Connex-Education work in partnership with Birmingham City Council supplying a full range of staff across various educational settings. We require a full time Level 3 Learning Support Assistant or Teaching Assistant to work in a special needs school based in Birmingham to start ASAP for one term initially.

Previous experience with pupils with Special Needs is a must. Pupils at the school have been excluded from mainstream school due to Behavioral, Emotional and Social difficulties and need support on a one to one and small group basis. You will support pupils with IBPs and IEPs under the direction of the teacher. You will work closely with Educational Social Workers to remove barriers to learning and help each child fulfill his /her full potential.

Successful candidates will have a confident, positive and enthusiastic personality, with strong communication skills and enjoy working as part of a team. You need to be sensitive to individual needs and be passionate about making a positive difference to young people’s lives.

Continuity is very important for the pupils, so candidates should be able to commit to working to at least the end of the academic year. The posts will be full time temporary initially, with a possibility of becoming permanent.
