Software Development Engineer

This role would suit a software developer or software engineer with competent C# development experience that would enjoy working in a smaller company and small team environment.

Key points:

* Strong experience of C# development and appropriate MS development tools

* Experience of developing systems utilising SQL / LINQ within a commercial environment

The role will involve the development of applications software to support new business, manufacturing and engineering process improvements systems.

You will work alongside a software engineer that is developing the architecture, framework and hardware interfaces for the new systems. Your role will involve the development and delivery of software (in C#) to enable the collection, processing and management data from around the business (e.g. manufacturing test systems, engineering design etc.)

Typically, you will assess the technical viability of solutions, propose conceptual designs, write specifications and ultimately develop the software (in C#) to meet the design specifications.

Skills / Knowledge Required:

* Ideally a degree or similar in a relevant subject (e.g. Software engineering, computer science etc)

* Excellent experience of software development using C# with appropriate MS development platforms / tools

* Experience in SQL/LINQ database interactions with C#

* Strong independent and proactive developer, aware of the need to adhere to company architecture and able to work effectively in a small team

* Good verbal and written communication skills appropriate to a highly technical environment.

* Experience in development of software process, requirements through to test.

* Knowledge of network hooks, microservices, interfacing with hardware / instrumentation and SQL databases would all be great

* Experience of full lifecycle software development including managing version control and fault / bug control too.

Others / Beneficial skills and knowledge:

* GUI development experience would be useful as would Web server and HTML experience.

* Understanding of manufacturing environments and manufacturing systems would be useful

* Knowledge of structuring relational databases would be great

* Appreciation of formal design methods and processes (e.g. V Model, Agile, Scrum)

The ideal candidate would be a proven software developer with strong C# experience along with good experience if SQL / LINQ. Candidates should be Proactive, innovative self-starters that are able to manage their own workload and work effectively as part of a small team.
