Small Plant Fitter

Salary: £66,000 – £72,000 per year

As our Small Plant Fitter/Warehouse Operative, you will be working at the Regional Depot providing support to the Depot Manager with responsibility for servicing and maintaining a variety of small tools including 2/4 stroke petrol tools, sundry repairs to larger plant & vehicles and ensuring that our service crews have functioning, serviceable plant, vehicles and equipment. Additionally, you will be supporting the depot team in a variety of warehouse duties as and when required.

Your role is key to ensuring that the work of our build and fibre installation teams can progress without being constrained by unavailability of any of the equipment or materials they require to get their job done.

Your key responsibilities will be…

• You will be directly involved in ensuring equipment is checked in, tested, repaired where necessary and available for issue to teams.

• You will manage preventative maintenance schedules and being proactive in order to minimise equipment down time.

• There will be start and end of day routines to be managed so that there is effective control of plant/fleet, tooling checks and updating records.

• You will also be able to support the depot team as required with basic warehouse duties.

• Loading and unloading machinery with occasional delivery driving as well.

• Carry out Certificate Of Fitness (COF) checks

• Carry out Electronic diagnosis and repairs.

• Attend sites to deal with repairs.

Knowledge & skills required…

 Diagnose faults and repair/maintain a variety of plant in the Zzoomm fleet including: mini- excavators, dumpers, small machines, tools etc, both on and off site.

 Check and tag all equipment and update service records.

 Maintain an up to date knowledge of products and full range of accessories.

 Operate materials handling equipment – pallet truck, telehandler, dumper truck etc. (training will be provided)

 Work to a safe standard safely.

 Abide by company Health & Safety rules when on site.

 Keep workshop area and vehicle (where provided) organised, clean, tidy and assist with general warehouse duties as and when required.

Qualifications…

 A relevant mechanical/electrical qualification (or time served)

 Experience in petrol and diesel contractor tools servicing and maintenance

 Telehandler or Forklift licence (preferred)

 A clean valid driving licence

 You will need to be physically fit and able to move materials using equipment provided

 Experience of a construction industry depot facility would be useful

 Good organisational skills and attention to detail

 Basic IT skills required to update/maintain maintenance schedules
