Salary: £26,000 – £30,000 per year

LinkPoint specialises in the recruitment of high quality candidates in the education sector. We have an excellent opportunity for a Skills Tutor based in East/North East London & Periphery including extensive travelling if required and potential over-night stays.

Your background will be in leisure, fitness and sports. Your main purpose will be to deliver various levels of National accredited qualifications through a range of blended learning, maintaining quality provision and excellent administration protocols.

Skills Tutor’s Core Duties

Coordinate with the Line Manager, the delivery of taught units in line with various scheme works
Coordinate students and their work experience placements with employer partners
Develop effective tasks for students to complete while on work experience placements
Achieve monthly targeted starts and outcomes
Work in line with learner delivery model and update learner tracking on a weekly basis

Delivery of Teaching Duties

Create lesson plans and deliver weekly lessons in line with the set scheme of work
Ensure all styles of learning are considered when delivering to either pedagogical (children) or andragogical (adult) learners
Ensure all qualification criteria are covered in the lessons and continual informal assessment of learning takes place
Plan and deliver taught modules to support VRQ (Vocational Related Qualifications)
Ensure all students who fall behind or have learning difficulties are supported while maintaining open communication

Assessment of Award Requirements

Manage assessments for each individual qualification
Keep an updated tracker of individual students’ assessment progress
Design assessment briefs and set timetables for assessment deadlines and outcomes
Work with the assessment team to grade individual assignments, projects, presentations and observations and then provide feedback
Hold assessment help sessions

Coordinate Work Experience Placements

Ensure all health and safety issues are addressed within work experience placements
Visit learners and set tasks on work experience placements
Ensure all work experience is verified and recorded
Solicit all learner, employer and stakeholder feedback and report this in accordance with protocols

Quality and Continuous Improvement

Attend administration days and address action points
Submission of portfolios to achieve Her Majesties Inspectorate (HMI) Grades 2 and above
Undertake monthly progress reports to line manager
Participate in the self-assessment and quality improvement process
Organise and carry out Health & Safety workplace vetting, audits and monitoring visits in a timely manner in accordance with funding requirements

Skills Tutor Skills Required

Must have a strong understanding of learning strategies
Understanding of sustainability and ‘green issues’ such as recycling
Good understanding and compliance with health and safety, child and vulnerable-adult safety and welfare
Strong leadership and management skills

Tutor’s Key Experience

At least 3 years’ experience in a management/leadership role in the education sector
Minimum Level 3 vocational qualification
PTLLS
Associate or affiliate membership with the Institute for Learning (IfL)
Key/Functional Skills Level 3
Health and Safety Unit Level 3
