Tradebe are looking for a Site Supervisor for our busy site in Knowsley, Liverpool.

Main purpose of the role:

To assist the Site Manager in the safe, compliant and efficient operation and development of the Charley Wood Road Transfer Station. The role will provide supervision of the Transfer Station operation. Covering of the other site supervisors may be required on occasion. Administration and control inline with the site permit and relevant sector guidance of the transfer station operation aimed at maximising the costs centres profitability and compliance.

The person

  • Good knowledge of the available treatment options across the site and the ability to understand waste routing
  • Basic understanding of IPPC and the ability to interpret and meet all the legislative requirements of the site permit as relevant to the role
  • A hazardous waste management background would be a distinct advantage
  • Ability to liaise with all areas of the business
  • Computer literacy especially in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook is required (will be trained if necessary)
  • Good verbal and written communication skills are essential
  • Awareness of internal and external customer importance.

The role

  • To manage the processing of packaged and liquid waste at the facility.
  • To provide operational guidance and training to operators regarding processing of waste.
  • Assist in co-ordinating the activities of operations staff as appropriate so as to ensure safe and productive working.
  • To assist in implementing process optimisation / improvements on site.
  • To ensure that materials are correctly processed into the site tanks and that the TS remains compliant at all times.
  • To liaise with clients (both internal and external) at all levels.
  • To assist in ensuring appropriate process monitoring and to seek advice on process / regulatory issues as appropriate, the emphasis being on compliance with the Environment Agency Permit and discharge consent.
  • To assist in the control of commercial aspects of the transfer facility.
  • To assist the Operations Manager in ensuring compliance with the Company’s Health and Safety and business systems policies.

  • To ensure resource is available to carry out the receipt and dispatch of waste from the waste transfer facility.
  • To ensure relevant records are maintained and adherence to systems and procedures.
  • To provide cover for other staff during periods of annual leave or sickness.
  • To assist with stock control and liaise with site colleagues on this issue
  • To foster a positive attitude amongst your colleagues and staff towards the company and its customers.
  • Any other reasonable duty as requested by the Line Manager.
