Salary: £33,600 – £42,000 per year
JOB PURPOSE
To undertake all Land, Measured Building, Verified View, Right of Light Surveys, etc.
To be able to use the 3D Laser Scanner ON SITE, and process / draw up same.
To be able to undertake all setting out duties, from millimetre accurate works, through to +/- 75mm pile setting out. Includes understanding / installation of primary, secondary and tertiary control and when to use each.
To work unattended on Government sensitive sites, on full time basis when required. To be the clients survey representative, and to work with client, but also to offer survey recommendations. Ie, to advise client if / when an, eg, primary control traverse should be established / periodically checked. To be pro-active in suggestions of areas needing survey attention. Ie, verify a sub- contractors setting out, before a concrete pour, to avoid costly re-work.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To receive the job brief from the Survey Manager.
To deliver the project to the survey brief on time and on budget.
To liaise with client or client rep on site, for access, etc. If additional instructions are received on site, then to inform Survey Manager BEFORE undertaking those instructions.
To carry out ALL surveys to project defined key milestones, budgets and timescales
To control and organise a number of survey teams on a single project
To be fully conversant with contouring, volumes and ground modelling using LisCAD, N4ce or Key

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To be able to quote jobs as and when required (max £3,000 ish)
To attend site meetings to discuss progress with clients
To QA projects produced by others
Assist with the training of Surveyors and Survey Technicians.
Undertaking instrument checks when required 3 peg test, verifying collimation, checking bubbles and adjusting, etc.
SKILLS REQUIRED
Full understanding of land and measured building surveying
Basic understanding of road and civil engineering design would be a benefit
Very good understanding of ground modelling, contouring, cut & fill volumes, etc, in preferably Key
Terra-FIRMA, N4ce and Liscad.
Very good understanding of Leica Geo-Office, Liscad and AutoCAD.
Good understanding of GPS site work and post processing. Smartnet and Conventional GPS.
Ability to download instruments, process and draw up surveys as allocated by the Survey Manager
Be able to use one man instrumentation, GPS, 3D Laser Scanner, and all other survey instrumentation that the department uses.
