Job description

Due to continued expansion of our Nuclear licensed facility in Dorset, Tradebe/Inutec require a Laboratory Chemist

Main purpose of job:

To perform chemical and radiochemical analyses and supporting operations in the laboratories.

The person

• Previous experience working in a laboratory
• Working to the requirements of BS EN ISO/IEC 17025 (desirable)
• Basic knowledge of chemical techniques
• Knowledge of radiochemical techniques or the waste industry (desirable)
• Computer literate with basic knowledge of Excel and Word
• Good written, presentation and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
• Good time management and attention to detail
• Professional and positive approach

The role

• Prepare samples for analysis, including receipt and logging of samples
• Perform analyses as per the QA wallet, following safe working practices
• Prepare and review analytical QA documentation
• Ensure QA checks are carried out and recorded
• Calibrate instruments and equipment as per their schedule
• Ensure instrument performance checks have been completed
• Support with final disposal of samples
• Support the development of new/existing analytical techniques
• Support the development of more efficient working practices
• Perform operational work and support other Tradebe Inutec activities away from the labs, if required
• Share best practice for lab operations and knowledge to colleagues within the team.
