Senior Planner

Wigan Council are seeking a Senior Planner to assist with the processing of a backlog of minor planning applications for a period of 3 months.

Pay rate: £38-£42 per hour Umbrella

Contract: Until 29/03/23

Location: College Avenue, Wigan. Flexible hybrid working arrangement.

Hours: 37 hours, 5 days per week.

The role

Your role will be to manage a caseload consisting of a range of planning applications, pre-application enquiries and appeals. You will manage the processing of these applications having regard to statutory timescales and target dates for determination, coordinating inputs from internal and external stakeholders. You will promote and participate in a development team approach, representing the Council on projects of significant scale, negotiating packages of developer contributions, and influencing landowners and developers to secure high quality outcomes.

Duties include:

• Process a range of planning applications, mainly minor complex applications.
• Respond promptly to enquiries and complaints in accordance with the Council’s standards and procedures.
• Engage with developers and their agents in regard to pre- application enquiries.
