Senior Linux Applications Developer

Salary: £48,000 – £96,000 per year

Responsibilities

* Development of Linux Applications on ARM and x86 architecture-based targets

* Work in a multi-disciplined team in an Agile Development Environment

* Targets will be embedded appliances, local x86 servers or cloud-hosted

* Applications and Images may be developed and/or deployed in Docker containers

* Documentation of work as necessary

* Most documentation is managed under Confluence

* Work items are managed in Jira

* Support the CI / QA team

* Provide expert advice for QA and Customer Support

Education, Skills and Experience

* Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent

* 5+ years of directly applicable experience.

* Strong programming experience in C and at least C++ 11.

* Practical experience in Network programming (TCP, sockets, …)

* Programming experience in Python

* Strong knowledge of the Linux OS environment (Filesystems, APIs, POSIX system calls, common libraries eg. Boost)

* Familiarity with development workflow tools such as Git, Jira, Confluence

* Comfortable in an Agile environment.

* Knowledge, skills and experience in following is an asset:

* Communications protocols such as ZeroMQ (ZMQ)(CurveZMQ), or similar (MQTT, CoAP)

* Higher level protocols such as: SNMP, NetConf/Yang, Websockets

* Kubernetes (Container Managers), SCTP network protocol and OpenEmbedded/Yocto (Linux build system)

* Threaded applications development

* Software development on ARM based SoC targets (TI Sitarra AM335x, Xilinx ZYNQ)

* Development of Operational Support System managed software

* Development of Telecommunications-based software and protocols

* Previous experience in a Continuous Integration work environment

* Linux Driver development experience
