Senior HSE Manager
Job Description
HSE Recruitment are working with a leading Manufacturing and Engineering business in Herefordshire to recruit a new Senior HSE Manager for the site. This role offers someone a great opportunity to build and develop a team to meet the needs of the business.
We are looking for someone who will energise the department and collaborate across the business to ensure health and safety is controlled, managed and improved. This will require everything from reporting to corporate, representing the site at senior leadership meetings as well as rolling your sleeves up on site. It is your responsibility to develop, implement, execute, monitor and audit all EHS initiatives to ensure compliance and to continuously improve the health and safety culture and performance.
This is an old, complex, high risk site of around 500 staff, with investment coming through. The role reports into the General Manager and has full responsibility for the EHS department. You won’t be doing all this alone. The role has three direct reports and there are plans to grow the team under the leadership of this new manager. We are looking for a doer, someone who will provide the EHS expertise for the business in a pragmatic way.
Person Specification:
- Diploma Level qualified in Health & Safety.
- A strong background in high risk complex manufacturing/engineering businesses.
- A proven Health and Safety Leader, operating at a senior level.
- An engineering or similar degree would be beneficial.
- Experience managing and developing a team is essential.
- A hands-on manager who is self-reliant, flexible and resourceful.
- Able to communicate at all levels, to network and build relationships.
- Someone who thrive in a demanding environment and can operate at a corporate level.
- Independent thinking and decision maker who can identify and solve complex problems.
Salary on offer is circa £70-80,000 + Package
