Senior Healthcare Assistant

A senior healthcare assistant is needed on a 3-month temporary basis to work within a private residential mental health and dementia care home in market Harborough, Leicestershire.
Shifts – Long Days 08:00-20:00 or Long Nights 20:00-8:00
Hours – Full Time
Pay – Standard Days: £15 ph ltd
– Nights & Saturdays: £13.50ph ltd
-Sundays & Bank Holidays: £14.50ph ltd
Location – Harborough, Leicestershire

This role is based within a purpose-built care home for up to 40 adults with complex mental health, dementia, and behavioural issues. The residents are aged 35 years upwards and the home looks to provide a community that resembles life outside of the home, where the residents can achieve the best quality of life and health they possibly can. As a Senior Carer you will be expected to take a leading role in ensuring that the personal needs of the residents are always met in a way that respects their dignity and promotes their independence.
The role does include paid breaks with a free meal included, and Weekends are worked at the service on a rota basis.
Daily duties include but are not limited to:

be a leader/role model in the provision of excellent standards of care for the residents
Assist residents who need help with dressing, undressing, bathing and toileting
Carry out regular discreet checks on all residents at intervals specified by the Home’s Manager
Carry out regular fire prevention and security checks of the premises
Ensure any information that should be given to the night staff is recorded in the communication book and given to the night senior carer on duty
Help residents with mobility problems and other physical disabilities including incontinence
Care for the residents who are temporarily sick and need minor dressings and bed nursing
Assist in the promotion of mental and physical activities of residents by talking, encouraging hobbies and any other recreational activities
Undertake various domestic duties during the day such as laundry, ironing table laying and cleaning
Take an active part in resident’s review meetings, staff meetings and the training of junior staff
Read and write reports. Ensure all records are kept up to date and in the correct place.
The Senior Carer is responsible for keeping accurate records of medication requested and received from the Doctor or Pharmacy and records of medication administered to the residents.

Candidate Requirements

The candidate must have knowledge or previous experience working with dementia or adult mental health patients.
The Candidate must have a NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care
The candidate is required to hold a full UK driving license and access to a car due to the location and accessibility of the service.
It would be ideal if the candidate holds transferable DBS.
Candidate must be available to start as soon as possible and be cooperative and efficient with SCS registration process.
