Senior Front End Developer & Designer

Job Description

Major travel services business requires a well-rounded and talented Senior Web Developer & Designer to join its digital development team based in Crawley.

The Senior Front End Developer & Designer will work within a team responsible for the global strategic direction and implementation of all user-centred development and design across multiple devices; making use of first class skills in HTML5, CSS and JavaScript / jQuery.

The Front End Developer & Designer will have responsibility for the development, design and delivery of entire front end user interfaces across all digital channels, covering desktop and mobile. Specifically, you will utilise your expertise in front end development and design to carry out the following tasks:

– Offer expertise to the team and the business in all aspects of delivering web solutions for multiple devices.
– Ensure a great user experience is achieved by applying best practice to all relevant development projects / small updates / enhancements.
– Manage and continuously improve the front-end development & design processes.
– Define and enforce appropriate web coding, accessibility and usability standards.
– Represent the front-end for Agile development projects.
– Participate in two-way coaching with colleagues to share the broader aspects of front-end development & design resulting in accessible and usable web solutions.

As well as being a first class communicator willing to take the lead on development and design, you possess demonstrable skills in the following areas:

– Able to work on the entire front-end, from conception, through to design, development and usability testing.
– Experience with techniques / methods of web development such as Responsive, Progressive and Adaptive web design.
– Strong knowledge and experience of HTML5 & CSS.
– Strong knowledge and experience of SASS / SCSS.
– Strong knowledge and experience of JavaScript / jQuery.
– Good experience using Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator.
