* SENDCo – Cambridge
* January or April Start
* Highly Competitive Salary
* Immediate Interviews Available
I am currently recruiting a SENDCO for a amazing school in Cambridge on a permanent basis.
The role
The School is looking to appoint an outstanding leader to the position of SENDCo. The SENDCo post will allow the successful candidate to continue to develop the SEND department, lead the SEND team and continue to drive the high standards within vulnerable groups.
They are looking for an excellent leader who has a strong passion in the field of SEND, who can work both operationally and strategically with all staff within the School, to embed SEND knowledge and accountability across all levels of staff. Strong communication and organisational skills are essential.
Their over-arching aim is for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to experience the very best of our educational offer. This is underpinned by the following principles:
*
They seek to reduce any variation between the outcomes of SEND vs non-SEND students.
*
Their school will be a fully inclusive, accepting community where the best in everyone is fostered and facilitated.
*
They will provide access to, and delivery of a broad, challenging and appropriate curriculum that builds upon powerful knowledge, in order to prepare students for future education and employment.
*
They will ensure that SEND students experience education with character by taking as full a part as possible in the broader aspects of school life.
*
All of their staff will challenge any stereotypes or low expectations which limit the progress and success of United Learning students.
The successful candidate will either have the accreditation for the national SENDCo qualification, be working towards the qualification, or be prepared to undertake this training as part of their new role if appointed.
About The School
The school is a small, family and community orientated school in Cambridge. It’s a school where every child and staff member is known, developed and supported. They value their staff highly and treat workload seriously. This is an exciting time to join them: They have recently joined a fantastic academy trust; they have a new Headteacher; and, having just achieved a ‘Good’ at Ofsted, they have really strong foundations on which to grow into an excellent school. They are looking for someone that shares this belief and passionately believes that all children can achieve, no matter what their starting point, background or needs.
You will be joining a school that is ambitious for its future as well as the future of all its students and so they are looking for colleagues who share that ambition and are uncompromising in their commitment to doing what it takes to secure the potential of the young people there.
The most important purpose is to teach young people things they would not learn outside school which empower them. They believe that ‘Knowledge Is Power’. They believe in teaching through explicit/direct instruction (Rosenshine and Engelmann) and utilising TLAC 2.0 techniques. Their mission is to bring out ‘the best in everyone’ and their vision is that they will be a great school in everything that they do.
They are unapologetically ambitious for every child, no matter what their background, prior attainment or needs.
They also believe in ‘Education with Character’ – they want young people to look back on a schooling that has inspired and challenged them, given them wide opportunity and prepared them for the ups and downs of life.
Why work there
* You will join a school with hugely supportive colleagues
* You will join a school committed to supporting the well-being of staff
