Salary: £31,200 – £43,200 per year

SEN Teacher
KS2 – 1 to 1
Worthing, West Sussex
£31,200 – £43,200 per annum

September 2022 – Permanent

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are SEN Teaching Experience.

Are you a person who has experience working with children with complex needs? Who have experienced high levels of trauma and presents with associated behavioural and SEN needs?

The role
The SEN Teacher will be focused initially on working 1-1 with a KS2 pupil who has ASC and Attachment Disorder and is currently absent from education. He is to be gradually and nurturingly reintegrated back into the classroom and this will be your main role. This child attends Monday through to Friday mornings and will be supported by a TA in addition to you. He is 9, loves to play, be creative, sports and physical activities. He presents with communication challenges but is already making great progress. So interventions and knowledge of Pace language techniques would be great! You need to be active to work with this child, and he does present with behavioural challenges. In the afternoons you can be integrated into the wider school depending on your skills and experience, alternatively, mornings only would be an option.

The school
A lovely setting for both girls and boys who have experienced varying levels of trauma in their lives and who benefit from alternative, nurturing education. They have SEN; ASC, ADHD and other SEMH, and can present with behavioural challenges. The setting is a place where de-escalation techniques are the main priority, physical interventions are only used in the case of emergencies! They have 40 children ages 4 – 17 on site and benefit from regular activities on and off site for the children to get involved with. They’re a Good rated Ofsted school with fantastic leadership who are really keen to find a specialist who will remain with them permanently.

Requirements
To be considered for the SEN Teacher position, you will:

  • QTS or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Experience working with children with complex needs
  • Experience formulating individualised learning plans
  • Experience with KS2 curriculum – Maths and English levels
