Salary: £27,876 – £41,279 per year

Due to our on-going success and our plans for continuous development, we are recruiting for Teacher to join our Education Team at Woodstock House in Surbiton, Surrey.

Woodstock House is a stunning property, set in 8 acres of tranquil grounds. Here, we provide exceptional care and education to children and young people with autism, learning disabilities and challenging behaviour.

About The Job:

Reporting to the Head Teacher the Teacher key responsibility is to assist the Head Teacher in the daily running of the school as required.

This will include maintaining a broad and balanced functional, vocational and sensory-based curriculum as well as managing all staff and acting as a role model to ensure the highest standards are delivered at all time.

Key Responsibilities:

• Teaching and implementing the curriculum planning and preparing lessons.
• Assessing, recording and reporting on the progress and attainment of pupils.
• Promoting the general well being and progress of pupils.
• Providing guidance and advice on educational, social and careers matters.
• Co-ordinating designated academic subjects and keeping themselves up to date with recent developments within the subject.
• Attending regular staff meetings and leading regular meetings for class team.
• Attending In-Service training and relevant off site training courses.
• Being responsible for the appearance and care of the classroom.
• Communicating and co-operating with bodies or persons outside the school.
• Developing and implementing Individual Educational Plans for each pupil.
• Taking overall responsibility, acting as a team leader for all Classroom Assistants and care staff attached to the class.
• Co-operating with Speech and Music Therapists, Educational Psychologist and Aroma Therapist to help to devise and carry out programmes within the school setting.
• Presenting an annual report on each pupil at the annual review meeting.
• Helping to devise and develop new curriculum documents.
• Helping to develop the pupils’ communication skills.
• Helping to develop the pupils’ self help skills, including toileting
• Accompanying pupils to offsite activities such as horse riding, shopping, swimming and gymnastics.
• Helping to develop behaviour modification plans for our pupils.
• Being alert to signs of distress or abuse and ensuring that the pupils are monitored and protected at all times.

Experience Skills & Qualifications
Essential
• Experience of special needs
• Knowledge of SEN codes of practice
• Hold QTS (completed GTP or PGCE) and be educated to a Degree (within any subject)
• Have knowledge of Individual Learning Plans
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to relate to wide range people
• Excellent communication skills across all levels

Desirable
• Ideally hold a SEN qualification
• Ideally have knowledge of ASDAN
• Ideally have experience of using B squared and/or Casper

Remuneration Package:

The successful applicant will be offered a remuneration package that will consist of a basic salary of between £27,876 – £41,279depending upon the number of years teaching experience as well as comprehensive training and other company benefits such as; Pension, Life Assurance, Child Care Voucher Scheme and not to forget our Stunning Work Locations..
