Salary: £26,000 per year

Security Officer-Commissionaire (128sk) – Brighton – Salary: £26,000per year – Shifts: 4 Days/4 Off-4 Nights

Our client is an established and market leading security provider with a nationwide profile, they require a high quality Security Officer to provide relief and sickness cover to facilities within the Brighton area, full Security qualification can be provided by the client.

Main Responsibilities:
To provide events security and support duties in a professional and courteous manner in line with both the client requirements and the company security policies and procedures.

Main (Typical) Accountabilities of the Post:
To cover a range of duty assignments which will involve the following events and duties
Functions/VIP Parties
These include AGMs & Press Conferences, Weddings, Sporting Events, Art Galleries, Auctions, Functions/VIP Parties, Security, Retail Security, Reception, Mailroom and corporate hospitality.

Meeting and greeting visitors when they enter the building.
• To ensure that only guests included on the guest’s list are allowed entry to the premises.
• To assist in the removal of guests from the event if advised by the client.
• To ensure that the building is secure at the times.

General Security
• To open and lock down company premises.
• To patrol building both internally and externally.
• To check for suspicious packages.
• To monitor CCTV cameras.

Retail Security
• To guard the entrance of the shop.
• To open the doors for customers.
• To remain alert and watch customers whilst on the premises, in order to prevent theft from the shop.

Reception
• To answer the telephone in a clear and confident telephone manner.
• To transferring calls to appropriate personnel.
• To provide full access control, including checking of ID passes, issuing contractor passes and escorting visitors to destinations.
• To book taxis and couriers

Mailroom Duties
• To collect and distribute mail.

Sporting Events
• To allocate seats to members of the public.
• To provide access control to sporting grounds, including checking tickets.
• Guarding entrances at sporting events.
• Patrolling the grounds of sporting events.
• Meeting and greeting of visitors and VIPS and escorting them to VIP areas.

Art Galleries and Auctions
• To provide the guarding of prints and pictures.
• To work from a guest list and provide access control.
• To meet and greet visitors as they enter the building.
• To offer light refreshments to guests to the gallery.

Work Context
• Primarily site based working for the Company on a variety of client sites. The job holder provides day-to-day security and business support to the client.
• The job holder will carry out a range of security and reception duties that are essential to the smooth running of the client/office/business.
• Job holder will need to be ICT proficient as the role requires an intermediate level of PC/application use.

Autonomy and Decision-Making
• Work is completed in line with the site specific assignment instructions agreed by Line Manager(s) and the client. The job holder is expected to work within agreed processes and procedures and refer anything ‘out-of-the-ordinary’ to their manager/supervisor.
• The jobholder will usually meet with their site manager/supervisor daily to review progress and feedback information.

Communications
Internal
The main contacts of the jobholder are:
• Line Manager both at daily/weekly meetings and ad hoc as required to review progress, to plan workload, feedback on progress, raise and address issues, agree targets/objectives.
• Site staff working together to achieve the client requirements alongside Company policies and procedures.
External
• The main external contacts are:
• Incoming calls from clients/contractors to be fielded to relevant department/employee
• Visitors to the client site, to ensure they are dealt with professionally and in line with local arrangements
• Fire service during the testing of Fire Alarm Panels.

The main sources of complexity are:
• Managing the conflicting demands of planned schedules and reactive work
