Salary: £30,000 – £32,400 per year
SAFETY AND TRAINING OFFICER – BURY ST EDMUNDS – £25,000 TO £27,000 – PERMANENT
Our client are one of the leaders in their industry of warehousing, distribution and logistics – they are currently recruiting for an experienced Safety and Training Officer
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
To provide efficient and professional Safety and training provision across site and provide an excellent service to our customers.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Health and safety support as required
• Direct the daily activity to ensure a safe, secure, clean and fair work environment for team members
• Health and Safety reporting as required
• Facilitate effective communication
• Prepare, train and review Safe Systems of Work, Risk Assessment and reports as required
• Ensure compliance to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s)
• Ensure company policies are communicated, applied and enforced
• Carry out site Safety Health & Environmental inductions as required
• Complete general warehouse duties as required
• Prepare accident & incident reports as required
• Liaise with contractors and suppliers
• Deputise for Safety & Site Services Manager as required
• Work in collaboration with other sites to maximise efficiencies and best practice
• Conduct Display Screen Equipment (DSE), Mechanical Handling Equipment (MHE) and manual handling risk assessments required
• Maintain training and induction matrix
• Prepare and update Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) assessments
• Liaise with compliance departments
• Liaise with Driver Development Manager
SKILLS/EXPERIENCES
Excellent organisational skills
Self Motivated
Good analytical and numerical skills
Excellent interpersonal, leadership, motivation & planning skills
Excellent communicator (verbal & written)
Computer literate
Knowledge of Control Of Major Accident Hazards (COMAH) requirements (desirable)
Previous experience of training provision (desirable)
High school/ secondary education (desirable)
NEBOSH general Health & Safety certificate (required)
Minimum three years logistics experience (desirable)
RTITB, ITSA or AITT Training Qualification (desirable)
