We now have a great opportunity for a multi skilled Maintenance Operative on our Bristol based NHS repairs and maintenance contract. Our South West based NHS Maintenance Healthcare team in Bristol delivers a first-class repairs service in partnership with this NHS Hospital service. You will join our highly regarded repairs team to provide reactive, planned and preventative maintenance.

Job Purpose

As Maintenance Operative you will be responsible for the maintenance of a busy hospital/healthcare site in Bristol. This is a static position where you will work as part of a highly skilled maintenance team (consisting of plumbing, mechanical and multi-skilled maintenance operatives). You will have the opportunity be involved in many aspects of reactive works and planned preventative maintenance (PPM’s). Typical works include plumbing repairs and maintenance which could include depending on experience include; TMV servicing/replacement, replacing pipework, sentinel checks through to repairs to fabric of building, replacing locks, fire alarm testing and much more.

In addition to reactive repairs, there will also be some planned upgrade works, refurbishment as part of our ongoing efforts to ensure a safe environment for service users. Normal working hours are 8am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday. You will also have the opportunity to participate in an on-call rota system (which offers the opportunity to increase your earnings and be involved in additional urgent repairs).

Experience Required

Previous relevant experience in the maintenance of buildings is essential, ideally within the NHS. This experience might have been gained working directly for the NHS, or a maintenance contractor providing services within the NHS. We will also consider candidates with experience of maintaining commercial properties.

The ideal candidate will have achieved industry recognised qualifications such City & Guilds/NVQ Level 2 or having completed a formal apprenticeship or craft equivalent.
