Salary: £26,000 per year
The role will ensure compliance to the framework (£2bn capital scope) sitting within the PMO Management Team with the aim of embedding risk management capability within the Delivery Teams to support strategic decision making.
This role will set the strategy for training and advisory, ensuring all processes are well defined, understood and aligned with the overall Capital Programme Strategy. The scope of the role is to ensure that all of the risks that sit within E&C risk hierarchy are identified, visible and reported on regularly. From a financial perspective, this role will ensure all of the risk exposure is included within the financial reporting on a monthly basis by using integrated systems. This role will also show clear tracking of risk expenditure which will be used to inform future contract tendering too.
- Lead the PMO Risk team to deliver accurate insight into likely performance of the c£2bn capital delivery programme.
- Ensure risk insights are fed back in the capital programme as early as possible to minimise threats and maximise opportunities.
- To have all risks recorded and reported within the Capital Programme in a consistent manner.
- To record risks at project, programme and portfolio level within the Capital Programme
- To ensure risks are visible and recorded at the appropriate level via the escalation process.
- To support the Capital Delivery Programme in managing risk effectively to deliver the required scope.
- To update the processes and procedures and ensure company is following industry best practice
- Lead the company programme and projects community to increase risk maturity and maintain compliance by providing a risk management service that meets or exceeds the expectations and requirements of the Executive Leadership Team.
- Lead and be accountable for the implementation of effective risk management architecture with appropriate maintenance and review processes.
- Develop and maintain standard documentation, templates and procedures to facilitate the efficient and transparent management of Delivery Partner risk information
- Accountable for ensuring significant risks are escalated to the Executive Leadership Team to ensure the Capital Programme is in line with corporate risk appetite.
- Lead the assurance and commercial alignment of Portfolio and Programme risk allocation and represent the E&C Director/Head of PMO in senior level discussions.
- Accountable for the accuracy and timely submissions of risk data / reporting to support appropriate Performance Management.
- In partnership with the other level 3 PMO Function Managers, take ownership and accountability for the overall performance of the PMO department.
- Ensure analysis is carried out on risk profiles resulting from the monthly updates and make recommendations to reconcile anomalies
Qualifications/experience
- Project risk experience is essential
- Degree in risk/science ideal
- Recognised industry body memberships/charterships
- Expert knowledge and experience in relation to risk management principles and stakeholder engagement associated with capital programmes
- Detailed understanding of the dependencies within programme, governance, commercial and risk management
- Significant experience of working in the field of risk management;
- Experience of strategy development
- Stakeholder management experience
- with working across a complex project delivery cycle
- Excellent interpersonal and team collaboration skills;
- Proven career track record demonstrating progressing to management level in similar role.
- Effective leadership and management skills to set direction for the business in terms of risk management strategies, prioritises the risk team’s workload and ensures objectives and timescales are met
- Strong and effective presentational skills with the ability to distil and present complex information at executive level to inform business decisions
- Provide direction and guidance to the risk architecture based on knowledge and experience in order to deliver the programme and associated business benefits
- Ability to understand and influence company ‘strategic view’ in terms of risk, contingency and maturity position
