Salary: £45,600 – £48,000 per year

Avocet Staffing are currently looking to recruit for an experienced Registered Service Manager to work with our client at their service, based in Northampton

Manager Job Purpose

Reporting to the Managing Director, the Service Manager will be responsible for overseeing and motivating a large staff team to deliver the highest quality of care to adults with a diagnosis of; Learning Disabilities, ASD and Challenging Behaviour.

As the Service Manager you must have the capabilities and confidence to provide an extremely high level of care to these levels of adults. You will be tasked with translating the group strategy into local operations and developing relationships with stakeholder’s and local authorities. The post holder will be responsible for maintaining the standards of care and support to all our service users as set out in the care standards legislation, as interpreted by the Care Quality Commission and thereby enhancing the reputation of my client.

Dimensions

* To manage all Care staff ensuring that they contribute to the best of their ability to the provision of excellent quality outcome-based support for our supported living portfolios.

* To lead the support team ensuring that, through direct contact with clients, their Support Plans are up to date, appropriate and delivered to the satisfaction of the client.

* Oversee the induction and ongoing training of support staff

* To ensure that rotas are prepared and executed appropriately.

* Work with the Director to develop the service in line with legislative changes, emerging national and local policy changes and other local opportunities ensuring that the quality of the service is always maintained.

* Regularly audits work being done and service being provided to ensure all standards are met and that outcomes are being carried out effectively, correctly, and thoroughly

* Oversees team members performing inspections, preparing reports, and doing repairs; if necessary, carries out these job duties personally to ensure highest quality of work

Key areas of responsibility

* Recruit and appoint new support staff ensuring the recruitment process is completed in line with care standards and employment legislation

* Ensure induction training and statutory training is completed for all staff in line with legislation and current good practice. (To deliver training if appropriate)

* Ensure that the personnel records for care staff are compliant, complete and up to date.

* Ensure there is sufficient staff capacity to fulfil all the obligations of.the service.

* Ensure staff are working at an acceptable standard and adhering to the company’s policies and procedures.

* To ensure that a programme of spot-checks and care reviews are undertaken.

* Respond to complaints and concerns and if necessary and following reference to the Director initiate the Company’s disciplinary policy

* Provide Health and Safety leadership for my client in your area, ensuring that Care staff are delivering care (including the administration of medications) safely and appropriately recording their action. Liaise with the Director to ensure that necessary Health and Safety requirements are in place for all staff.

* Organise regular staff meetings, written updates, client care review meetings and staff satisfaction surveys in order to ensure effective communication between The Director, staff and clients.

* Ensure that all potential clients receive appropriate literature and other information about the service on offer. Follow up enquires promptly and provide enough information to encourage clients to choose this service in preference to others. Arrange initial meetings with prospective clients to talk though what can be offered.

* Ensure that for each client there is a valid ‘contract’ which records the client’s current support package.

* Ensure an accurate quote is provided to all prospective clients.

* Lead the assessment of all new clients and the development of new Support Plans. Lead the review of all client Support Plans ensuing staff have up to date and clear instructions about the needs of each client.

* Liaise with clients, their relatives, social services and other health and care professionals regarding the well- being of my client’s residents.

* Represent the client at review meetings or other meetings regarding the health and wellbeing of clients.

* Engage in proactive marketing of the service to existing and potential new clients

Applicants must have the following:

NVQ Level 5 in Management or equivalent

Ability to demonstrate experience within a managerial capacity.

Experience of working in a Learning Disability setting is essential

An in-depth knowledge and understanding of the CQC Regulations.

Strong leadership and management skills, including the ability to delegate effectively.

Excellent organisational and management skills.

An ability to effectively and confidently conduct employee relations issues such as; disciplinary, grievance, performance management, supervision, appraisals etc.

Ability to conduct a wide range of audits.

An ability to work both under own initiative and as part of a management team and overall team whilst maintaining professional relationship boundaries with non-management staff.

Ability to oversee the development of care delivery to service users.

A good understanding of complex issues surrounding young adults with Learning Disabilities and associated needs.
