This is a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Engineer/ Sub Agent who is looking for a role which focuses on the technical aspect of Engineering and development of junior engineers. The successful candidate will spend a lot of their time working within different projects in the region to support their everyday technical and site engineer resourcing needs. This role will include a lot of travel within the Southern Region to support the team from Surrey across to Kent.

The key responsibilities will be as follows:

  • To successfully manage the on-site engineering operations in the Southern Region
  • Management of engineers, graduates and trainees including mentoring and supporting of professional development
  • Manage survey equipment including liaison with equipment suppliers
  • Establishment and promotion of best practice for the engineering function in the region
  • Oversee and manage the engineering functions and technical application with ground models and surveying/setting out
  • Assist with the recruitment and promotion of engineers within the region
  • Represent the region at company-wide engineering and technical meetings
  • Lead regional role in use and application of BIM, AutoCAD and engineering software
  • Promote STEM related activities for the region as part of the social value objectives
  • Management of quality control processes

Are you the person we are looking for?

We are seeking someone with excellent communication skills with the ability to mentor and progress the skills of the industrial / graduate engineers. Must have previous experience in surveying/setting out and in interpretation and use of ground model information. Must be ambitious with a desire to bring in new ideas and improve /implement existing company procedures. Must be someone who is able to manage their time efficiently and work independently whilst meeting specific objectives agreed with the Regional Director and Engineering Manager.

The ideal candidate will have experience in heavy civils with a main contractor. The successful candidate must also have a CSCS card and a suitable qualification in civil engineering, minimum requirement HND. A First Aid, SMSTS and a Degree in Civil Engineering would also be desirable for this role. Must also be looking to get/already have professional registration through the ICE/CIHT as part of the mentorship programme for our Industrial Placements and graduates.

This is a senior role within the regional business and the salary package on offer is reflective of this responsibility.
