Progressive Engineering and a Major Engineering & Manufacturing OEM in Heavy Process Solutions for the Oil & Gas, Energy, Petrochemical & Energy Industries are looking to recruit a Quality Manager for their Manufacturing HQ near Swansea, owing to succession planning, business growth & project pipeline for 2024-26+.

Based near Swansea and reporting into the General Manager the Quality Manager will be responsible for :

  • Day-to-day planning, operation and maintenance of the quality management system
  • Responsible for overseeing the Works Inspector(s), Materials Controller, NDT Supervisor, NDT Technicians, SHEQ Co-Ordinator.
  • Working with the works Manager & Engineering Manager for the day to day QA/QC matters in the Company.

Specifically, the Quality Manager will be responsible for:

  • Liaising with Production Managers, Engineers, Works Inspectors and NDT to ensure timely and effective quality Control is exercised on company products.
  • Creation and maintenance of Quality Procedures and the company quality Manual.
  • Identifying, implementing and progressing quality improvement projects to a successful conclusion and reporting on Customer complaints and Customer satisfaction responses.
  • Approve completed quality plans prior to issue and at contract close out together with final release of finished product.
  • Responsibility for NDT department operations and liaising with clients’ representatives & inspectors on QA/QC matters. Planning and coordinating Internal Audits.
  • The compilation & submission of data dossiers.
  • Welding Engineering, Welding procedure compiling & qualification, Welder approval qualification.
  • Welding coordinator in accordance with ISO 14731.
  • Assisting Company Management in the implementation of the Company’s Health & Safety and Environmental Control policies.
  • Assist with the maintaining of ISO 9001, 45001 and 14001 quality management systems.

Qualification & Experience Required for Quality Manager role:

  • Prior experience as a Quality Manager or similar within a Heavy Engineering Environment (ideally Pressure Equipment, Heavy Fabricated & Welded Systems, Pressure Vessels, Heat Exchangers, Condensers, Boilers etc or similar)
  • Qualified to HNC/HND level in an appropriate related subject.
  • Ideally holds Qualified European Welding Engineer / Technologist.
  • Ideally holds a PCN/CSWIP in an NDT discipline is desirable.
  • Active member of the Institute of Quality Assurance with lead auditor qualifications is also desirable.
  • Desirable experience in running and maintaining an ASME ‘S’ & ‘U’ stamp quality system.

For the successful Quality Manager, a salary up to £50,000 is on offer and this Quality Manager role is commutable from Swansea, Llanelli, Port Talbot, Porthcawl, Bridgend, Neath, Aberdare, Llandeilo, Penderyn, Seven Sisters, Ammanford & Pen-y-Cae.
